Artisan Fisheries use selective fishing gear; its nature excludes gears such as trawl and purse seines. Industrial fishing, by industrial boats, are ecological safe and economically viable when performed in its designated areas.

Non-selective gears used in artisan fishing grounds is a daily occurrence in even the most developed countries. It creates conflicts and ecological problems that must be addressed by responsible fisheries authorities.
